Canada’s first “Craft Beer Week” is approaching, and we couldn’t be happier to be a part of it.
We’ve arranged an event in collaboration with The Irish Heather, The Shebeen Whisk(e)y House, and Salt that will take guests on a Crawl of sorts through the three establishments. Upright Brewing’s Alex Ganum will be on hand to discuss the beers (2 of which will be extra special!) and lead us through dinner alongside Irish Heather Chef Lee Humphries. The event sold out in record time. Technically, it was our first event, but a record nonetheless.
Adam is also co-organizing the VanBrewer Awards, a BJCP certified homebrewing contest. The judging took place last weekend on May 1st and 2nd. There will be awards ceremony and celebration on May 11th, which is an offical VCBW event. The contest as been a huge success with almost 200 entries with entries from as far away as Utah and Saskatchewan. Winning brewers will have a chance to produce some of their beer commercially at The Yaletown Brewing Company and/or R&B Brewing.
The winners of the VanBrewer Awards are posted here: www.vanbrewers.ca or on the official contest site at www.vanbrewerawards.com
If you haven’t purchased tickets to any of these events you really should. This week long celebration is going to start an annual tradition, and there’s no better way to take part in traditions than to be there when they start!
Also, RainCity Brands got our first little bit of press! There’s an interview with Adam in the Westender this week, which has a cover story on Vancouver Craft Beer Week!
